As an Oakbrook Maternity Photographer, I love using our local forest preserves as the backdrop for growing families. Mayslake Forest Preserve is one of many wonderful locations that I have a prepaid permit for.

On this gorgeous fall evening, the weather was a photographer’s dream. The setting sun created a golden glow amongst the tips of the tall grasses. The wind blew ever so gently creating a subtle hush amongst the brush.

This family of four was awaiting the arrival of their sweet addition in a few months. We had so much fun picking flowers and walking through the tall grasses as well as strolling the gravel paths.

All sessions are created with flexibility and patience in mind so that littles can have a positive experience that allows them to be authentically them. I also use every trick I’ve learned in the past 27 years of working with children to draw out their natural smiles and smirks.

When it comes to maternity sessions, there are a variety of options. It can be the mom-to-be only, the whole family unit, done in home or in a forest preserve as well as styled casually or more formal. Who knew there were so many options when it came to a session?
