Our late June trip to Western Tennessee was a welcome respite after a full spring. My grandma may not have many road trips left in her (but you can see how adorable she is below!). Sending her on an 8 hour road trip seemed like too much of a risk so I hopped in the car and became her personal Uber.

We arrived Thursday evening and ran out to grab some BBQ for dinner from Jacks Street BBQ!

Friday was a quiet day filled with resting and some work along with continuing education for me. One of my favorite photography educators released a new course recently. I’m so excited to use it in my upcoming sessions and keep learning and growing as an artist and business owner!

Saturday was filled with the Farmer’s Market to get some HUGE donuts then we went and did a little shopping to get out of the heat. It was time for lunch so we stopped at Old Town Spaghetti Store for lunch! Their warm loaves of bread were delightful.

After that we visited some family in a nursing home and in a couple local cemeteries. One of my grandma’s sisters passed away in January and she missed coming down for the funeral because she was hospitalized shortly before that. There ended up being a snowstorm the day we would have left so our trip was postponed to the summer!

One of the things I’ve loved the most about being here, besides spending time with her and other family, is the slower pace of life, the distance between homes and the gorgeous glowing sunset light. I won’t miss the high heat and humidity! I lived in TN for 3 years in college and I haven’t forgotten it! 😉

Sunday was church and then resting up after our adventurous Saturday.

I’m certainly going to have fond memories of this time and enjoyed playing games with family on Monday night!

I’m grateful for a job that allows me to care for my family at home or throughout the US. A change of scenery always allows me to come back refreshed even if it was a busy trip.
