The popularity of custom sugar cookies for special occasions has skyrocketed recently so I am excited to bring you this month’s Vendor Spotlight with Caroline from Simply Sweet Caroline’s. While she is located in the city near the Loop, she grew up just around the corner in Clarendon Hills and serves sweets to clients throughout the Chicagoland area.

She started her business in March of 2021 after taking a virtual cookie decorating class. She knew that her cookies on that day were not the best she could do and has now spent hundreds of hours perfecting the cookies. Her official taste testers include her mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law and boyfriend. Her gratitude for them for their feedback during her recipe testing was incredibly helpful.

Baking has been a passion ever since she was gifted a copy of The Cake Mix Doctor by Anne Byrn by her dad. She still owns and is inspired by it to this day.

Her dad was so instrumental in coming up with her tag line, “So good, so good, so good” to the tune of

Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond.

Caroline is not only an entrepreneur but loves to give back. She has donated over 175 cookies to local senior centers and schools. Years ago, she worked in the senior living industry and has a passion for caring for those that came before us.

Recently, Caroline was asked to support Icing Smiles, an organization that provides custom cakes and cookies to families impacted by a critical illness of a child. Two custom orders recently went to the Alzheimer’s Association as well.

These two cookies were made especially for my taste testing efforts and I must say…they were delicious! The blue one is a photographer taking a photo and I thought it was just the sweetest thing when she said she custom made this for me. My husband also highly approved of these goodies!
